Riverside's TREEHOUSE Children's Ministry

Riverside Church takes its meaning from Psalm 1 “a tree planted by the rivers of water…” If the tree pictures the believers and families of Riverside, then the boughs of that tree represent the place where children rest, play and grow, all of which draw their life from the RIVER.

TREEHOUSE is a Bible-based teaching ministry to provide a creative environment for learning and growing on a path to know and love the Living God, His Son Jesus Christ, His Story and each child’s place in that story.

TREEHOUSE is led by our Children’s Ministry Director, her staff of caring and capable teachers and workers. All of our children’s workers have a heart to lead and teach children. Each worker has had a background check in order to serve in this ministry.

Much thought, prayer and planning has been given to provide a creative experience in Bible study for your children. Childcare for nursery-age children and ministry for your grade school children will be provided during the adult worship service.

A Letter from our Pastor

Dear Parents,

Welcome to THE TREEHOUSE Children’s Ministry of Riverside Church. It is our privilege to have your child in our care while you are in the Adult Worship Service. I say Adult Worship Service because we believe it is important for our children to be led in worship, also.

From the moment you step on property we want you and your family to know this is where we come to refresh, learn, encourage and find encouragement to take the love of God to our community and world.

The love and study of the Word of God is at the heart of all we do and the basis for all ministry of Riverside Church. Your child will enjoy the creativity and care that we take to present the story of God’s love given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you have questions please contact us and we would be glad to talk with you. I am thankful to be the pastor of a church that gives priority to the children’s ministry, and invests time, resources and caring leadership. Thank you for entrusting your child to us and our TREEHOUSE Children’s Ministry.

Serving your family is my privilege,

Pastor Jim Carter

Riverside's Youth Ministry

Since meeting in the fall of 2016, Riverside Youth Group is committed to making an

impact on teenagers in Lynchburg through serving and engaging through the love of God (1

John 4:7). We follow the encouraging example of young Timothy as he was willing to proclaim

the Word of God despite others looking down on him in his young age. We are called to be a

light and example for others to follow despite our age, background, or difference we may have

(1 Timothy 4:12).

Riverside youth group meets every Wednesday night from 7-8:45 p.m. at our ‘Meeting

Place’ in Wyndhurst (105B Tradewynd Dr. Lynchburg, VA 24502). During that time, we will

enjoy snacks, play fun group games, spend time studying God’s Word and growing closer to

Him together as a group, and reflect on it with a little bit of time at the end with small groups. If

you are interested in getting more information about our youth ministry, feel free to connect

with us on social media (Facebook: Riverside Youth Group and Instagram: @riversidelyhyouth).

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to email the leader of our youth

ministries, Caleb Simpson, via email

Riverside Discipleship Ministry

We offer a thoughtful approach for considering the truths of God’s Word, which is our source for walking with the Lord, and then walking out these truths in community as we connect and serve together.  We want you to find a place to consider the Word of God, which is your source, and a place to connect with others in order to serve.

Being intentional about the depth and breadth of our lives and encouraging others to embrace this priority is the hallmark of our community. Spending time together with the purpose of considering the Word of God and related topical studies, and taking time to connect in small groups, building friendships and serving one another is the centerpiece of Riverside Discipleship.

Opportunities for discipleship are provided through FOCUS Groups and LIFE Groups throughout the week.

FOCUS Study Groups

The Purpose of our FOCUS Studies is to teach the Word of God in a clear, understandable and livable way through our children, student, college and adult groups. We accomplish this through short term directive studies as we use other teaching tools to thoroughly explore the in depth knowledge of living the Christian life.

Consider the Word of God

Consider:  to fix the mind on with a view to a careful examination; to think on with care; to ponder; to study

The purpose of our Bible Study is to view attentively the Word of God.

FOCUS Groups offer Biblical unit studies, topical, and personal discipleship training.

(Biblical Studies, Growth, Training, Membership, Missions, Family studies)

“Listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice.  Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health”.Proverbs 4:20, 22 (The Message)

LIFE Connection Groups

Our LIFE groups meet on an ongoing basis throughout the week and give us an opportunity to connect and build relationships.

Connect:  to knit or link together, to join or unite, to have a close relation

LIFE Groups offer unit studies, topical interest groups, and on-going fellowship groups.
